Aussie Broadband takes first step towards B Corporation certification

Aussie Broadband is delighted to announce that it has taken its first step to become certified as a B Corporation.

B Corporations, or B Corps, are businesses that meet verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

Managing Director Phillip Britt said that becoming B Corp certified would help Aussie to further its work on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).

“Aussie Broadband has always been an organisation that values people and purpose as much as profit. We believe this certification is a perfect fit with our own values,” Phil said.

“Becoming certified as a B Corporation will help us as we move into a new phase of the company and continue to change the telco game. It will allow us to benchmark ourselves and improve our ESG practices even more,” said Phil.

Aussie Broadband’s Chair, Adrian Fitzpatrick, said the B Corp Certification is the next step in the company’s ESG objectives.

“Adopting an ESG reporting framework like that of B Corp sits in line with Aussie Broadband’s commitment to community impact, our people and the environment. By assessing our impact, we can ensure that we can make a real difference as a company,” said Adrian.

The B Corp assessment measures a company’s performance across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. To achieve B Corp Certification, companies must have at least 80 points when submitting the assessment.

“We’re really pleased with our indicative results so far – it appears we are scoring well above average in each of the impact areas,” said Phil.

“It’s not something that you achieve overnight - it involves a lot of hard work, tough questions and ongoing improvement. But most importantly, it gives us an objective view about what we are doing well and areas that we need to improve when it comes to our social and environmental impact.”

“B Corp holds companies accountable for the promises they make, and each of the five areas of assessment are heavily monitored and measured. So, we believe that being a registered B Corp demonstrates that our commitment is more than just words.” Phil said.
