Splend Named One of Australia's Best Places to Work

Splend, Australia's largest Electric Vehicle (EV) Fleet Operator, has been recognised as one of the Best Places to Work for 2024, highlighting its commitment to employee satisfaction and workplace culture.

Splend has been named in the top 10 for medium-sized businesses and highly commended as the best place to work for disabled employees in The Australian's Best Places to Work 2024 awards.

The annual list, compiled by The Australian through anonymous employee surveys, evaluates companies on factors such as work-life balance, career development opportunities, and overall job satisfaction. Splend, with 90 employees across Australia, stood out in the Transportation and logistics sector for its innovative approach to employee engagement and sustainability initiatives.

"Our people are the heart of Splend and the driving force behind our success. We've always believed that by creating an environment where our team feels valued, empowered, and supported, we can achieve extraordinary things together. This recognition affirms that our approach is making a real difference but there’s always more to do," said Chris King, CEO of Splend.

Splend's commitment to sustainability was a key factor in its high ranking. The company is leading the charge in transitioning to electric vehicles, not just for its customers but also for its employees. Through a unique Novated Lease program, Splend offers staff discounted access to electric vehicles and contributes 15% of the monthly repayments providing a total discounted benefit to well over 50% off the overall vehicle operating costs.

"We're not just talking about sustainability; we're living it," Chris King explains.

"By making it easier for our team to drive electric vehicles, we're aligning our internal practices with our broader mission of reducing the carbon footprint of transportation."

Pavithran Bandari works on the Adelaide Splend team and says the novated leasing program has been a game-changer.

“The savings are incredible. Through this program, I'm paying $500 less monthly than I would have otherwise. Splend's unique Employee Benefits scheme contributes 15% to my monthly payments. While some companies offer salary packaging, Splend contributes to my vehicle repayments. When you add in the tax benefits of the novated lease, that's a game-changer for my budget.”

“What stands out is how this program makes luxury cars accessible. I'm now driving a brand-new Tesla Model 3, something I never thought I could afford. And with an interest rate of around 6-7%, it's far better than the 15% other lenders offered.”

“It's simple, saves us money, and makes quality vehicles accessible. I couldn't be happier with the program or more grateful to work for a company that offers such fantastic benefits.”

Other initiatives that contributed to Splend's recognition include:

Annual conferences and regular team events to foster connection and strategic alignment

Monthly activities and office perks, including a day off for employees' birthdays

Transparent goal-setting and performance tracking across the business

Professional development opportunities through a curated online learning platform

Strong emphasis on internal promotions and career advancement

The recognition comes as Splend expands its operations and innovates to fundamentally change how people own and operate a vehicle.

With its focus on electric vehicles and sustainable transportation solutions, the company is positioning itself as a leader in both workplace culture and environmental responsibility.

"Being named one of Australia's Best Places to Work is a tremendous honour. It's a testament to our incredible team and the culture we've built together. Our commitment to our people will remain at the core of everything we do as we continue to grow and evolve," says Chris King.
