Qoctor has been announced as a national finalist in the Best Tech Innovation category finder Awards run by finder.com.au.

The finder awards recognise the best products and the most exciting innovations in Australia for 2017. The shortlisting for the awards centered around finding the most notable innovations across finance, tech, travel and retail sectors.

At Qoctor, medical certificates, specialist referrals and prescriptions can be obtained online with a few clicks, offering a quick and convenient alternative to in-person GP appointments.

Since its launch in December 2015, Qoctor (formerly called Dr Sicknote) has made a significant impact to Australians, with 7,661 medical certificates issued online, saving patients 11,492 hours and saving Medicare an estimated $352,406*.

In 2017, Qoctor launched their new online prescription service for medications that don’t require physical consultation, including scripts for the combined oral contraceptive pill and mini pill, premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, hair-loss, delaying a period, chlamydia and genital herpes.

AHPRA registered GP and CEO at Qoctor, Dr Aifric Boylan is extremely happy with the recognition of Qoctor in the Best Tech Innovation category.

“Qoctor is fast becoming a household name, however, we want to turn the word Qoctor into a verb.

“We want our customers to recommend their friends to ‘just Qoctor it’ meaning to find a quick, easy, trustworthy and reliable way to get better.

“Our customer numbers are rising steadily, and we’ve quadrupled patient numbers in the last two quarters, with consultation numbers rising week by week.”

Constant innovation is key in building Qoctor as a national online medical hub. Medical certificates are now automatically uploaded to the patient’s Qoctor account and signed electronically by the doctor, which can be immediately printed out or emailed to an employer.

The team of GPs behind the MedTech startup’s focus is on safety and quality. Qoctor has spent 18 months perfecting the system which includes comprehensive algorithms, which offers a user-friendly way for customers to order medications with an approach as thorough as if they’d been seen in a clinic. In fact, in many ways the online doctor is more comprehensive.

The winners across all categories will be revealed at the finder.com.au gala awards dinner in Sydney on Thursday 2 November 2017.
