90 Year Old Wins Fresh Award

Perth’s celebrated local painters, AJ Cochrane & Sons, have beat the competition to take out two wins at the prestigious Master Painters & Decorators Australia 2022 Awards for Excellence

The company came out tops in both the Housing Paint up to $20,000 category and the Historical Restoration Open Value categories.

The Awards for Excellence are open to all Western Australia’s registered decorators and painters. They offer entrants the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a number of different categories.

Winners are recognised as having demonstrated excellent tradesmanship and quality business practices in WA.

Meet the winner

AJ Cochrane & Sons are true stalwarts in the Perth community. The company celebrates its 90th birthday this year and is three generations into painting up the city.

Having been in business for such a long time, they’ve worked on everything from treasured family homes to historic restorations and some of the city’s most iconic buildings.

They take pride in being able to serve the community and have done so through all the ups and downs of nearly a century.

‘We've worked in Perth through all kinds of changes, and now we've added 'global pandemic' to our business experience,’ said Stephen Cochrane, third-generation painter and proud award winner.

‘It's an honour to serve in the same market for so long, we can barely drive down a street in Perth and not see a building we've worked on."

Key to their longevity and resilience has been a focus on excellence of workmanship and the development of strong relationships. By focusing on customer needs, providing expert advice, and ensuring that each paint job accomplishes the project goals, they have built an excellent reputation in the local area.

AJ Cochrane celebrates the big win

At the awards ceremony, Stephen graciously accepted the latest two award wins which recognise the commitment and dedication the family and staff put into the projects they work on.

‘We're so thrilled to continue to win awards,’ he said.

The company has a long history of winning awards, with the latest wins stacking up to a grand total of 57 awards for their work and making them the most awarded painter in Perth.

This year, as the company reflects on 90 years in business, they are making plans for another 90 years of exciting projects servicing the Perth community.
